Apart from the natural sights such as wadis and mountains, these are some more affordable things in Oman which the country produces, and might be of interest to the average visitor.

Fuel

Heavily subsidized petrol prices means one can drive without worry of cost unlike most other countries. Petrol prices are usually at about a third of the prices of non oil producing countries. Per litre price averages OMR0.239 at most petrol kiosk. There is also no need to leave you car as there are always station attendants. I would also say that renting a 4WD here is comparatively more affordable than getting one in neighbouring Gulf countries. Check out where to go in a budget itinerary for Oman here. Dates

Oman produces dates. Almost all other food items rely on imports. There are a variety of dates sold in souks and not all dates found at shops are from Oman. There are quite a number of dates produce from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates as well. As such, be mindful of which are Omani dates as it wouldn’t be that special getting dates from another country in Oman. Nonetheless, if you love dates, this is the place to stock up and bring them home!

Frankincense

Surely, buying Frankincense in the land of Frankincense would be more economical. Frankincense is seen as a something on par with gold. As Matthew 2:11 states “And when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts: gold and frankincense and myrrh.” The Quran also notes that Frankincense has medicinal properties and suitable for the use of purification, improving memory and the heart.
